Infographic for GOOD Magazine

This piece was created as an entry for a contest put on by GOOD magazine for their Work issue. It ended up winning the contest and was printed as a full spread in the magazine. The data came from the Bureau of Labor Statistics but the specific metrics and the story were selected and constructed by me.

MICA MPS in Information Visualization Mailer

A promotional piece for the Maryland Institute College of Art's new masters of professional studies in Information Visualization. Mailed out to alumni, students and potential candidates, the mailer visually illustrates the content and schedule for the program.

Google Buzz Infographic for Viralheat

Around the time Google Buzz launched I worked with Jones-Dilworth and Viralheat to create an information graphic describing the public's reaction (on twitter) to the new service. Viralheat provided the data that showed how Google's handling of initial privacy concerns changed public sentiment for the better.

Youversion Infographic

YouVersion is the mega-popular Bible web and mobile app that has over 10 million users and hasn’t done a bit of advertising. For their first promotional piece they partnered with Jones-Dilworth and myself to create an infographic highlighting some of their staggering usage statistics that keep the app incredibly successful.

Storyboarder

I designed this app for Sincerely Inc. as a part of the launch of their printing API. The app allows you to arrange pictures from your library on a postcard and have it mailed to someone for a small fee.

Picsicle

Picsicle is another app that uses Sincerely's printing API though not released by Sincerely. Frank Denbow created the app and contacted me for the design work so he could launch the app alongside those Sincerely had produced. Picsicle allows you to edit and make additions to photos using a tool called Aviary.

The Why Axis

The Why Axis is my blog dedicated to making solid critical analysis on contemporary data visualizations. It arose out of a vacuum of commentary concerning the quality of work being produced in this field.

Gurustorms

I designed and identity and website for a fresh startup in time for SXSW 2010. Gurustorms is a crowd-sourcing site that provides a group of experts or 'gurus' to companies looking for high quality brainstorming sessions with the best and brightest in various fields. Its founder Edward Cruz pitched his company to the SXSWi Accelerator and made it to the final round.

Safobudget

Interface and user experience design for version 2 of SafoBudget, currently under development. Safobudget is a tool that presents project management data with simple visualization for a quick read. Developed in partnership with Saforian.

Demyst.data

This is a work in progress design for a financial tool that aggregates data about customers and helps lenders offer the right products to them. The tool is in minimum viable product form and will continue to improve as design and development progress.

CCSR 5Essentials

I helped design and build the CCSR 5Essentials reporting interface with education design company Inquirium. The interface helps Chicago Public Schools stakeholders find out what makes their schools tick with analysis and data visualization. The reporting interface is continually developing and improving.
